Public Records Requests

  • Public Records

Access to public records is provided in compliance with applicable laws, Chapter RCW 42.56. While the state encourages disclosure of public records, state law does include exemptions to the law.

Before starting a search for accessible public records, please review the Public Records section of the Revised Code of Washington, Chapters 42.56.001 through 42.56.903. Detailed information on the state Public Records Act (RCW 42.56) is also available at the Office of the Attorney General.

The Granite Falls School District is committed to responding to your request for public information in a timely manner. Within five (5) business days (excluding holidays) of receipt of a public records request, the District will do one or more of the following:

    • Make the requested records available for inspection and copying; or
    • Acknowledge receipt of the request and provide a reasonable estimate of when the records will be available; or
    • If the request is unclear or does not sufficiently identify the requested records, contact the requester for clarification; or
    • Deny the request in accordance with Washington law.

If you are interested in filing a public records request with the Granite Falls School District, please complete the Request for Public Records Form and return it to the Public Records Officer by email, fax to 425.412.7168, or mail or deliver to the Superintendent's Office, 205 N. Alder Ave, Granite Falls, WA 98252.

Please note there is a fifteen cents ($.15) per page (the charge is for a standard black and white photocopy of a requested record) per RCW 42.56.120. Information regarding the processing of electronic records may be found in policy 4040.

See "policy 4040: Public Access to District Records (and procedures)" for more information.
