Graduation Requirements

  • The State Board of Education and the Granite Falls School District have adopted policies (see Policy 2410: High School Graduation Requirements) around student requirements for graduation.

    Office of Superintendent Public Instruction (OSPI):
    Public school students in Washington state must fulfill four graduation requirements to earn a certificate of academic achievement (CAA)/high school diploma. One of those requirements is to pass exit exams, or state-approved alternatives, in English language arts (ELA) and math.

    Graduation Requirements 

    Students must meet the following requirements in order to receive a high school diploma:

    Earn 24.0 high school credits.
    40 hours of community service prior to graduation
    Complete a High School and Beyond Plan that covers all four years of high school and one year following graduation.
    Complete a Culminating Project that reflects the student’s story as he or she attended elementary, middle school and high school.
    Students can keep track of how many credits they need in each subject area. It is recommended that credits are checked EACH year prior to registration for the next grade. For a breakdown of credits needed for upcoming graduating classes please contact your school counselor.

    Other requirements include:
    - 40 hours of Community Service
    - High School and Beyond Plan
    - Senior Culminating Project and
    - Certificates of Achievements (pass state assessments in reading, writing, and math).
    Parents are encouraged to check credit requirements frequently throughout each school year and prior to registration for the next grade.
