Applying For College
Seniors, college applications are due in fall and winter. Please pay close attention to your schools’ deadlines. Please contact your counselor for questions regarding letters of recommendation, applications, transcripts, and scholarships. Seniors need to plan on having their four-year college applications submitted to the counseling office by Thanksgiving.
Meeting high school graduation requirements is one step toward college admission. Acceptance to highly selective colleges and universities requires coursework in a variety of areas. In addition to coursework, taking college credits during high school is advantageous to your application (e.g. Advanced Placement courses, Running Start, CTE credits). Community work and extra-curricular activity involvement are also looked at for admission.

Letter of Recommendation forms are available in the Counseling Center. A list of community service opportunities is available there too. Local Scholarships will be appearing soon - don’t miss out on these amazing opportunities for money to help with your education.

Athletic Eligibility
NCAA Clearinghouse Website
The NCAA Clearinghouse website provides prospective student-athletes access to Division I and Division II eligibility requirements, to register with the Clearinghouse, and to access individual Clearinghouse records. This is important information for prospective student-athletes at a Division I or II institution. The NCAA also lists approved courses for use in establishing the initial-eligibility certification status of student-athletes from Granite Falls High School.

Financial Aid
Do you know how to fill out the FAFSA?
What is FAFSA? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid provides students with access to the majority of financial aid they could receive for college and it is an important first step to begin the college application process.
The College Success Foundation reminds us that January is FAFSA completion month and they have created a great series of 5 how-to YouTube videos in English and Spanish to help students get started.
Start by watching videos and look for the rest of the series on YouTube - Office of the Education Ombudsman and the College Success Foundation.
