Ms. Bridgette McVay

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year!  I am very excited to get our year started and

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

I graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1987 and earned my Bachelor's Degree from Western Washington University in 1992.  I began my career working in group homes over thirty years ago, I then became Substance Abuse Counselor and teacher in Snohomish County Denny Juvenile Justice Center.  I went on to work as a case-manager in both inpatient and outpatient treatment and an Intervention Specialist at Sequoia High School. I moved back to my home-town and became a Substance Abuse Counselor in Granite Falls in 1995. I earned my Master of Education in School Psychology and counseling in 1999 and became a School Psychologist for the district. I was encouraged by the superintendent to return to pursue my K-12 principal certificate and assigned the task of assembling a team to research and propose an effective alternative program. The board proposal was presented in the spring of 2004 and Crossroads opened its doors with a half time principal/counselor and two full time teachers the following fall.  I am passionate about working with students who have struggled with finding success in a traditional classroom setting. I understand that every student has unique learning needs and strives to create a safe and positive environment where they are are able to thrive. I have served numerous roles that have helped enrich my practice including, Associate Professor at City University in the Educational Counseling program, Snohomish County School District Representative for Department of Social and Health Services Child Protective Team, Building Bridges State Legislative Workgroup, Snohomish County Human Trafficking Task Force, Community Mobilization Advisory Board and am the co-founder and current Vice Preseident of the Granite Falls Community Coalition. What excites me most about what I do is watching students become excited about learning and helping them figure out their purpose and why the matter on this planet and in this life.
