Attendance Policies
-
Attendance is very important to your child’s success in school! We hope that our attendance policies help to build good attendance and communication habits.
If your child is absent, the office must be notified. If we are not notified, the absence is considered unexcused. Notification options can be found here.
- If a student arrives late but before 9:15am, he/she will be marked tardy.
- If arrival is from 9:15am to 12:15pm he/she will be absent a 1/2 day (morning).
- If he/she is dismissed anywhere from 12:15pm to 2:30pm, they are 1/2 day absent (afternoon).
- From 2:30pm to 3:10pm, the student will be marked for an early release.
Children coming in late or leaving early must be accompanied by and signed in/out by the parent or approved caregiver.
If a child accrues unexcused absences, we will contact you by phone and/or in writing. Under Washington State law, we are required to file a truancy petition if your child reaches 7 unexcused absences in a month or 15 in a year.
We may also ask you to attend attendance conferences in order to assist your child in strengthening his/her attendance patterns.
For additional information, please refer to district policy/procedure 3120 regarding student enrollment and attendance.
