Meet the School Board

Superintendent Dana Geaslen is from a small town in Oregon, where her early passion for learning and education took root. She ventured to Washington for her college education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Central Washington University. Her teaching career spanned multiple districts and settings, encompassing both special and general education classrooms across grades K–12. After earning her principal certification in Washington, she assumed leadership roles in Student Services in the Enumclaw, Selah, and Camas School Districts.

Prior to joining Granite Falls School District, Dr. Geaslen served for six years as Assistant Superintendent of Education Services and Principal Supervision in the Edmonds School District, where she partnered closely with schools, families, and community members to strengthen instructional quality and advance inclusive, student-centered practices. She holds superintendent credentials and earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western Washington University.

As superintendent, Dr. Geaslen places a strong emphasis on seeking and acting on student voice. Under her leadership, the district has expanded the number and role of Student Representatives to the Board of Directors, ensuring students are active contributors to district decision-making. She also launched Tiger Cabinet, now in its second year, a districtwide student leadership and advisory group representing grades 3–12. Tiger Cabinet provides a structured forum for students to share their experiences, identify challenges, and partner with district leaders on solutions that strengthen schools and build belonging.

Dr. Geaslen’s leadership is grounded in a deep commitment to literacy and the district’s responsibility to each and every child. She believes strong relationships, high expectations, and intentional systems are essential to ensuring all students are known, supported, and successful—academically, socially, and emotionally. Her extensive experience across rural, suburban, and urban school systems informs a thoughtful, systemic approach to leadership focused on access, opportunity, and continuous improvement.

Beyond her professional work, Dana is the proud parent of three children and grandparent to two grandchildren, Charli and Dane, who remind her every single day why the work of public education is so essential. She and her husband, Adam, a golf professional, enjoy spending time together on the course—where he makes the game look far easier than it is. Dana also enjoys baking, traveling, spending time with family, keeping pace with their two Australian Shepherds, and getting lost in a great book.

Bill Dane, Board Vice President, was appointed to the Board on April 12, 2023. 

Bill moved to Granite Falls in the fall of 1982 for work. Bill grew up and went to school in the city of Tacoma where his family landed after retiring from the military. He had the pleasure of raising his family in Granite Falls and becoming a servant of the community by volunteering and then being hired full-time by the local fire department. In his over forty years in Granite Falls, Bill helped raise an amazing family, volunteered as a firefighter, a parent helper in the schools, and a coach in various junior sports leagues.

In his spare time, he plays bagpipes with the county's firefighters' pipes and drums band. Bill's current position in the fire department allows him a unique perspective on how government agencies work and he hopes to use this experience to help with his position on the school board.

Born and raised in a small farming community in central Kansas, Carol loved the prairie but always dreamed of living in the  Pacific Northwest. That dream became a reality in 1988, when—after teaching in both Kansas and Arizona—she moved to  Washington State with her family. Her journey ultimately brought her to Granite Falls in 1996, where she immediately felt at  home both teaching and living in the community.

Carol is a strong believer in community involvement and values the way Granite Falls consistently shows up to support one  another. An active member of the Granite Falls Community Coalition since 2003, she firmly believes in the strength and  resilience of the Granite Falls community.

In her spare time, Carol enjoys spending time with her family and has a passion for travel and experiencing other cultures. She  is proud to serve on the Granite Falls School District Board of Directors and welcomes suggestions and questions from the  community.

Carol Panagos was elected to the Granite Falls School Board in the Fall of 2025.

Director District 3 Legal Description

Peter LeDoux, Board President, was appointed in the spring of 2022. 

Peter moved from Lake Stevens to Granite Falls in April 2021 with his wife and two children after falling in love with the area.  While new to the community, his passion for a strong public education system drove him to become involved within the Granite Falls School District early on. Peter is a graduate of the University of Washington and enjoys golf, hiking along the mountain loop, and spending time with his family when he’s not working. 

He strongly believes that the only way to make change is through discussion, and he asks anyone to freely reach out to him with questions, concerns, or just to grab coffee.
