Welcome to the All About Me page!
I have been a special education teacher for nearly 25 years! My main job is working in the Granite Falls Developmental Preschool. I, also, work with children throughout the district who may have vision or hearing needs.
I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a BA in Special Education and an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I received my first Master's in Education from Antioch and my second Masters in Teacher of the Deaf from Idaho State University. I have endorsements in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Reading, and Sign Language, and a Certificate in Teacher of the Vision Impaired from Stephen Austin University. You may be able to tell that I LOVE learning.
I am a widow and have 5 children and 5 grandchildren ages 4 to 22. Most of my family live in the area and I have one son and his wife and child living in California. It makes for great vacations (pre covid, of course.) My husband and I were foster parents for many years, and after he passed, I continued to foster children between the ages of birth to five years old. I retired from that last year after fostering nearly 40 children from a weekend stay to 3 year stays. I keep in contact with a few of those children and attended a birthday party this summer for one of my boys who just turned 14!
I enjoy working in my garden and reading on my back porch swing with my two dachshunds on my lap.
I am excited to be in person this year!
