FAQ About Multiage
Q: How do you teach 3 grades at once?
A: We don't teach three grades of content at once. All the content themes (Social Studies & Science) are rotated through three years. So in three years your child will learn all the content in the 4th, 5th & 6th grade curriculum. Example: 4th grade Washington State History & Electricity, 5th grade U.S. History & Volcanoes, 6th grade Canada & Mexico, Animal Science. This all isn't done in one year.
Q: What does your math program look like?
A: All students participate in an individual self-paced math program and also receive math instruction in grade level groups.
Q: Is Multiage a highly capable program?
A: NO, we serve all students with all abilities. We are a balanced learning environment that includes children who receive special services, speech, Highly-capable, special education, Title 1, English Language Learners, etc.
Q: What if I want my child to go the middle school for 6th grade?
A: Multiage is a three year commitment on the part of the teacher and students. As teachers we see the most growth in our students in their third year with us. They have the opportunity to be the leaders in the classroom, and because as teachers we know them well we can challenge them to achieve their best.
Q: What are the benefits of this program for my child?
A: The biggest benefit is the consistency of having the same highly qualified teacher teams for three years. Your child and you will build a long term working relationship with their teacher, where a great deal of individualization can occur.
