Emergency Substitute Certification Requirements for GFSD

1. 4-Year Degree

2. Letter of application stating reasons why Granite Falls School District should consider your education and experience for sponsoring you.

3. Resume, include professional references

Call Susan King at 360-691-7717 for more information and to obtain a packet. The state requires original transcripts and fingerprinting results on file with OSPI. The regional Educational Service District (ESD) requires $35 to process your application materials and to issue you a three-year certificate. The certificate is only good for the districts that sponsor you.

Process

1. Send completed packet, letter of application, resume, copies of transcripts to:

     Granite Falls, WA 98252

2. Administrator reviews materials.

3. You are notified as to whether you may be a viable candidate for sponsorship by the District. If so, an informal interview is set up with the personnel director.

4. If approved for sponsorship, you send your application materials to the regional ESD for processing. At that time you must include original transcripts with your materials and begin the fingerprinting process, if you haven't already.

5. The district will schedule some observation time for you to become familiar with the District and classroom routines. Also, you will receive a Guest Teacher Handbook.

6. Once one set of fingerprints clears, you will be issued a permit which will allow the District to begin using you in the classroom. When the second set of fingerprints clears, you will be issued a certificate good for three years.
