Special Information for Class of 2008 graduates
Washington state has implemented new graduation standards for students in the class of 2008 and beyond. Now, in addition to earning a minimum of 19 academic credits, 2008 graduates must complete a culminating project that integrates their experiences and knowledge, craft an education plan for high school and the year after, and earn a Certificate of Mastery (CoM) by passing the 10th-grade WASL in reading, writing and math by the end of high school. (Science will be added to the requirements starting with the class of 2010.) These are the minimum state requirements enacted into state law in 1993 under House Bill 1209.
