Emergency InformationEach family should plan in advance so everyone knows what to do if a child arrives home early due to inclement weather conditions; this plan should make note of alternate bus drops and who your child should call if school is dismissed early and you are not available. More information on inclement weather school closures is available here. School emergency information such as a lock down situation or bus accident will be sent to the media (radio and TV, see list below) for parents to have information on where and how to pick-up students. Calls and emails will also be made via the school messenger system to all phone numbers/email addresses on file with the school. (It is critical to have up-to-date information on file at the school for every child - cell phone numbers, email, emergency contacts, etc.) Inclement weather conditions can also cause school closure or a late start. That information is also released to all media outlets. Limited bus routes may NOT be announced through the local media - light snowfall or unexpected ice may close roads WITHOUT radio/TV announcements. Changes to the school schedule due to adverse weather conditions are normally posted on the website and available for radio and TV stations by 5:30 am. Go to the link, www.schoolreport.org, located in the blue section on the left side of our homepage anytime of the day or night for the latest communication on school schedule changes (or for any school emergency information). More specific information can be found in the GFSD Emergency Preparedness Page. What you should do in an emergency situation? • During an emergency, this website, local radio (710 AM, 1000 AM, 1090 AM), TV stations (Channels 7, 4, 5), and the
www.schoolreport.org will keep parents informed.
Also watch for emails and listen for phone calls. Staff members are trained for emergency situations and our highest priority is the safety of our students. Keep this information handy so you know how you can help your child should an emergency situation happen at school. |
