School Board names Karen Koschak superintendentThe Herald reported the story -> The Granite Falls School Board of Directors is very pleased to announce Karen Koschak was unanimously selected to be the Superintendent effective July 1. The Board made the announcement at its regular board meeting April 16. Read more here -> School Board President Siobhan Sullivan stated Karen is the perfect fit for Granite Falls. “Karen’s teaching, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent experience will provide the District with the needed skills to move us forward.” Karen was the assistant superintendent of the Aberdeen School District for the 1993-1994 school year and then served as the superintendent from 1994-2001. She also has six years experience as a principal and 16 years experience as a teacher. She earned her teaching credential and Masters degree from Western Washington University and her superintendent credential from the University of Washington. Karen’s passion for student success was evident during her discussions with the Board, staff and community. Her impeccable reputation and expertise in curriculum and assessment, staff relationships and fiscal responsibility will take the District in a positive direction to increase student achievement, strengthen interactions with staff and community and maintain a healthy fund balance.
