Granite Falls Middle School Assistant Principal Dave Bianchini has been named the Washington State Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year. Dave was selected as the 2006-2007 Regional (Snohomish and Island Counties) Outstanding Assistant Principal last year which automatically considered him for the 2008 State award. Dave will receive his award at the Association of Washington School Principals conference in October and will now be considered for the National Assistant Principal of the Year award. Finalists for the National award will be released in January 2008.
Dave is in his fifth year as Middle School Principal in Granite Falls. Words that are spoken by teachers and colleagues when describing Dave include positive, fair, respectful, professional and integrity. The Middle School’s high staff morale is attributed to Dave’s positive and open communication.
English teacher Kelly Kettler said, “Dave is a priceless asset to the middle school and the Granite Falls community. In my 20 years as a teacher I have yet to work with an assistant principal who is more caring and respected.”
Known as “Mr. B” to the entire community, Dave has earned the respect of not only colleagues but students and parents. His professionalism has greatly enhanced the learning climate for students and his integrity and ethical practices are of the highest standards, which makes Dave the ideal role model for students and staff. He anticipates student and staff needs with creative, yet thorough responses; he possesses the unique ability to be appropriately assertive and consistently supportive; and he goes beyond the education needs of students by truly caring for the student’s family unit.
Middle School Principal Dick Panagos stated, “We are so proud of Dave and the work he has done for Granite Falls Middle School. He has earned the respect from students and support from parents and that’s not easy with the tough job of handling student discipline. But Dave’s positive approach has touched the lives of hundreds of students because he is so fair and consistent when dealing with all students.”
